For several reasons, you may want to uninstall Snapchat.

Snapchat was discovered today to be a larger potential threat to privacy than we previously believed.

In response to law enforcement requests, Snapchat has an internal app named SnapLion that was developed to access private data. This covers everything from location details to stored images (Snaps) to information about private contacts.

Former workers have claimed that employees have exploited the software several times to manipulate confidential data for personal purposes.

Not only has it been distributed to various departments for other uses outside of law enforcement, there have been cases where workers have used SnapLion to display stored photos or users’ personal information.


So there are good reason to uninstall Snapchat, here’s how:


How to delete Snapchat on iPhone or Android 

  • Open the App for Snapchat.
  • Click your avatar in the upper-left corner.
  • In the Snapchat upper right corner, click on the gear tab.
  • Delete my account snap
  • Scroll down to the heading of Assistance and click I Need Help.
  • You can now be brought to the help page of Snapchat. A search bar is at the top of the list. Press in ‘Delete’ and pick the first alternative that emerges, that should be “Delete my account”. Only click it.

Tap and follow the connection to the Accounts Portal in the document.

You’re on the Account Delete tab now. Simply enter your username and password and the 30-day recovery duration will be put into your account. Only tap log in again and a month later, your account should be deleted.

How to temporarily deactivate Snapchat – 30 days to reactivate!

Snapchat will ask you, if you’re confident to delete your Snapchat account. Type your password and username, then press “Proceed”.

You still have 30 days to reactivate your account after your snap deactivation. To do so, in these 30 days, just log back in with your username and password to the Snapchat app. You have to be careful, since reactivating an account often takes up to 24 hours.

How to uninstall Snapchat permanently

Your account will be entirely inaccessible to all your contacts until the account termination process has begun. What you have to do to delete your account permanently is stop from signing into the app for 30 days after deactivating your Snapchat.
